Freelancers Union
Role: Senior Designer | Years: 2009-2013
For three years I was lucky enough to work as the Senior Designer at the Freelancers Union, a nonprofit membership and healthcare organization with a rich visual identity rooted in the art of Russian Constructivism. Much of my work involved the creation of printed and digital marketing assets, but also the visual communications that clarified the complicated world of health insurance to our members.
During my time, we launched the interactive site, 'The World's Longest Invoice', to raise awareness about a bill in New York state that would help protect independent workers from nonpayment. We we able to rally thousands in the community to submit their unpaid wages through the website, and then proceeded to present a printed scroll of the invoice to state legislators in Albany.
